Sounds of the season....

My name is Janelle Luke and I listen to KOST. Yes, I am going to admit to being a closet KOST listener. The thing I really love about them this time of year is that they play Christmas music 24/7 from the Monday before Thanksgiving to Christmas. I love Christmas music. I could listen to it all year if it weren't for the rolling of the eyes I get from others. I think maybe it's because the music is very uplifting and positive. Can't beat a good "Santa Clause is Coming to Town". I will also take this time to admit that I am a blubbering baby. I tear up atleast twice a day when listening to this music. The other thing that KOST does is a behind the song and they tell you the history behind the song they are going to play. It is always so interesting because a lot of the Christmas songs are so old. Well, maybe this should have been added to my list of weird things cause I don't know anyone else who listens to this station at my age, but I love it. Especially when they do their dedications. Mostly because I make fun of those people. Happy Holidays and if you think you can stand it, try and listen to a little KOST...
p.s. don't mind the scary non faces on this picture of carolers.

A bunch of originals...

I just wanted to write and say that I love everyones weird things blogs. It reminds me how funny everyone is and how unique we all are. And some of us are more alike than we knew. All these quirks and OCD tendencies are hilarious and I love you all for them.

6 things....

Here we go again....

1. Most of you already know about my ironing obsession, however, there has been a turn of events that has caused this to become even more disturbing. I have to iron the girls clothes in chronological order. Weird to some. So comforting to me.

2. Sometimes when I am in the car and there is a song on that I really like or is a song that you would hear in a movie, I pretend that I am the lead in the movie and stare off into space while I am driving deep in thought like they do in the movie. For example, there are many movies where someone jumped in their car after making the big decision like to move to California or something and they drive off with an intense look on their face and the music is playing in the background and they are just really deep in thought, thinking about their new life. Well, that was really long, but I think you get it now. I am weird. So, if you see me driving around looking very intense and deep into thought, you better believe I am playing a movie role.

3. If I get mayonnaise on my hands while making sandwiches, it makes me gag.

4. Many of you know that Steve massages me or scratches my back or feet or something every night. (love him) Well, I have a thing I call uneven. If he scratches one arm a certain way, I have to have the other done exactly the same or I feel uneven.

5. I really don't enjoy other peoples kids. Those that are related are fine because I love them. Other people from church or school and such, no thank you. I don't want to watch you and you are probably annoying me just looking at you. A playdate to me is like poking my eyes with a knitting needle.

6. Sometimes I have to ask myself, am I really that mean? The answer is yes. I am that mean. Some people might be surprised that I don't even say all the mean things that are floating around in my head. I should probably work on that.

sisters....

Today I am grateful that my girls have eachother. There are many times in my life where I have thought it would be so nice to have a sister and then there are other times that I think I don't know how I could have handled having a sister as a child and even now as an adult. Sisters seem great for the most part. You always have a built in friend and someone to tell you exactly what you need to hear. So, even though I will never know what it's like to have that type of relationship, I am glad that my girls will.

Today we were in a fast food place that had a play thing. Peytons' legs were too short for her to get herself up the steps. Zoe had to help her everytime they went up. I kinda thought that Zoe would be annoyed at having to help Peyton out. I was wrong. Zoe got in and yelled for Peyton to come in and she picked her up with all her strength everytime to get her up each of the 3 steps. Never once did she complain, but she did it with such enthusiasm and pure enjoyment each and everytime. She loved helping her up. She even kissed her a few times after she got her up all the way.

Earlier today we were picking Zoe up from preschool. A little girl was whipping Zoe with her coat. Peyton was yelling at me "that girl is hitting Zoe". She was so disturbed that someone would be messing with her.

At gymnastics the other day Kamdyn landed on her head while attempting a flip on the trampoline. Zoe teared up and said to me "I need to go give her a hug".

These are small things and not that big of a deal to anyone but me, but these are the things in my life that make me the most happy.

My girls love eachother. They really, really love eachother. I can see the relationship in it's early stages and the deep connection that they already have and know that they will have that bond that only sisters have. I am well aware that we have many years to come of horrible attitudes and fighting over taking eachothers clothes and month after month of some serious pmsing in our house. But, if I can keep these little memories of their true devotion to eachother in the back of my head, I know that after the hormones settle a bit, they will find their way back into this loving and adoring relationship that began so long before. How lucky for them.
